        Fire, which changes its shape all the time, hardly changes its characteristics. It recklessly occupies the space where you and I are as if it were alive, freely glowing and shining. Even the extremely advanced camera is difficult to capture its appearance because once the three-dimensional it is compressed onto a flat surface, its image will be blurred into a mass, and the sharpness is all gone.

 

        As soon as it appears, fire is hard not to become the focus of the whole scene. Both its physical properties and its symbolic meaning fascinate me immensely. At the Ching Ming Festival in 2021, when the flame flared up in front of me, I felt that it was inspiring me with a mysterious power that I had to take as a theme to create. Although it was a challenge, I vaguely realized that it might be one of the best works I could do that year if I made it work.
